Prime Healthcare in St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, MO, is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide patient-focused respiratory care on the day shift.

The role involves handling inhalation therapies, ventilator management, airway procedures, and respiratory assessments in a busy acute care setting. Eligible candidates possess NBRC RRT, state licensure, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, with preferred 2 years of experience.

Qualifications

  • Current State RCP license.
  • NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist certification or within 3 months of hire.
  • BLS certification at hire and maintained.
  • ACLS certification at hire and maintained.
  • PALS certification at hire and maintained or within 60 days of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program preferred.
  • Associate or Bachelor degree preferred.
  • Two years of acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide treatments such as inhalation therapies and oxygen therapy to help patients breathe more easily.
  • Perform pulmonary function tests and arterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange.
  • Set up, monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-support equipment.
  • Assist in rapid response emergencies, providing airway management and resuscitation as needed.
  • Assess respiratory status, monitor progress, and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned, sterilized, and maintained to prevent infections.

Hours:12-hour shifts – 6:00am to 6:30pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center – Kansas City, MO.

We are seeking aRegisteredRespiratory Therapist,internallyreferred to as ourRRT.The RRT can be referred to as aRespiratory Care Practitioner(RCP II) but someone whocarries out respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as directed by the medical and cardiopulmonary directors, based on physician orders. They focus on assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting care while considering the specific needs of patients based on age and population; in the absence of a supervisor, they may be designated as the Lead RCP, overseeing the department during their shift.

Responsibilities
  • Willprovide treatments such as inhalation therapies, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications to help patients breathe more easily
  • Conduct tests like pulmonary function testsandarterial blood gas analysis to assess lung capacity and gas exchange in patients
  • Set up,monitor, and adjust ventilators and other life-supporting equipment for patients who cannot breathe independently
  • May bepartofarapid response team in emergencies,which you willprovideairway management, perform intubations, and resuscitatepatients in critical situations
  • Assess patients' respiratory status,monitortheir progress, andmake adjustments totreatment plans as needed
  • Ensure that all respiratory equipment isproperly cleaned, sterilized, andmaintainedto prevent infections and ensure patient safety
Qualifications
  • Current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license required.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the AHA or ARC certification upon hire and maintain current.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the AHA certification upon hire and maintain current or obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate is preferred.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
  • Two (2) years of acute care experience is preferred.
