Job summary

LPU Batangas is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform routine respiratory care, mechanical ventilation management, and patient assessments as ordered by physicians for diverse age groups.

You will respond to emergencies, manage airway procedures, monitor ventilated patients, document treatments, and participate in education and quality improvement activities while upholding hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Respiratory Therapy (AS/BS).
• NBRC certification/registration required.
• Tennessee license or active work permit within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine respiratory care, vent management, treatments, and patient assessments.
• Respond to emergencies and CPR, airway management.
• Monitor ventilated patients, evaluate responses and adjust therapy with physician input.
• Administer gas therapy; perform intubations, ABG, EKGs, Holter as needed.
• Assist with patient transports and care planning.
• Document treatments and maintain department records.
• Assist with clinical education of students and participate in quality improvement.

Education

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy

NBRC certification/registration

Tennessee state license or active work permit (license must be obtained within 6 months)

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Perform routine Respiratory Care procedures, mechanical ventilation management, treatments, and patient assessments as ordered by physicians for newborn, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Respond to patient emergencies and CPR, performing airway management.
• Monitor patients on mechanical ventilation, evaluate responses, recommend and implement changes in consultation with physicians.
• Administer medical gas therapy and perform routine and special procedures such as intubations, arterial puncture, blood gas analysis, EKGs, and Holter monitors.
• Assist with patient transports to other facilities as ordered.
• Conduct patient assessments and recommend Respiratory Therapy care plans to meet department goals.
• Document patient treatments and procedures in charts and complete departmental records and logs.
• Assist with clinical education of students as needed.
• Perform equipment cleaning, sterilization, ventilator setup, testing, and calibration of PFT machines and blood gas analyzers.
• Participate actively in department Performance Improvement activities, Quality Action and Quality Improvement teams, and Discharge Planning Committee meetings as assigned.
• Manage orders for department services and enter departmental charges for services performed.

About You

The company is looking for candidates with:

• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Certification in basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) by AHA or equivalent.
• Graduation from an AMA-accredited school and certification or registration by NBRC.
• BCLS instructor certification, ACLS certification, and PALS certification are strongly advised and reflected in performance evaluations.
• Tennessee state license with ABG certification or an active Tennessee state work permit (license must be obtained within 6 months if using a work permit).
• Proficiency in current Respiratory Care practices and knowledge of departmental and hospital policies, acquired through orientation and skills checklist completion.
• Skill and proficiency in respiratory care principles and techniques for adult, geriatric, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn patients.
