Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Union Hospital in Dover, Ohio, seeks a Registered Radiology Technologist to join our Radiology Diagnostic team. You will operate x-ray equipment, position patients, and collaborate with Radiologists to produce high-quality images while minimizing radiology dose and ensuring patient comfort.

A PRN caregiver in this role works variable days and hours, across day/evening/night/Weekend shifts, supporting a busy community hospital with state-of-the-art technology and compassionate

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by ARRT in good standing.
  • Active state licensure as a Radiology Technologist.
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes.
  • Excellent communication with radiologists and physicians.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Produce high-quality images with accuracy and minimal delay.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after exams.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures and equipment.
  • Maintain documentation and assist with scheduling procedures.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and students.
  • Rotate through diagnostic imaging modalities as needed.

Radiology Technologists use x-ray equipment to obtain images of the body interpreted by a Radiologist and are responsible for preparing patients for the exam, moving and instructing the patient into the proper position, correctly operating the equipment and obtaining a high-quality image while minimizing radiation dose to the patient. Radiology Technologists may specialize in more specific imaging techniques such as bone densitometry, cardiovascular-interventional radiography, computer tomography, mammography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear medicine. In this role, most of your scans will be of patients coming through the Emergency Department, allowing you to help identify the medical issue. A PRN caregiver in this position works variable days and hours.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Perform general radiology exams, portable exams and fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Produce quality images for interpretation with accuracy and without delay.
  • Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Maintain documentation.
  • Address equipment malfunctions, notify management and report malfunctions to the help desk and PACS administrator.
  • Assist with scheduling procedures, monitor and determine priority of patients and process billing.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and Radiology students.
  • Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
  • Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and in good standing
  • Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Knowledge of anatomy and related pathologic processes
  • Can communicate well with Radiologists and physicians to coordinate proper imaging of patients
  • Strong communication skills are essential to provide excellent care to patients and families
  • Can function well with minimal or no direct supervision

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
