ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides polysomnography services under the direction of the medical director.
• Perform services related to sleep lab.
• Instruct, prepare, and reassure patient of procedure being performed.
• Transport patients to and from department in a safe manner.
• Communicate and treat patients in professional, honest, fair, and respectful manner at all times.
• Provide care appropriate for the patients served based on demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
• Assess and interpret data on the patients' status to identify patients' requirements relative to their age-specific needs and provides care needed as stipulated in departmental policy.
• Maintain files and prepare documents and reports.
• Accurately record polysomnography procedures in the patient's medical record.
• Prepare records and patient charges as directed.
• Assist with the maintenance of statistics and other information for department reporting requirements.
• File patient records.
• Assist in maintaining stock levels of supplies and required equipment.
• Assist in managing the storage, control, and issuance of supplies.
• Communicate with the Respiratory Director on ensuring that inventory is adequately stocked with supplies necessary for efficient operation.
• Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Perform the sterilization of equipment.
• Report equipment problems to the Respiratory Director.

Qualifications

• EDUCATION: Graduate of approved AMA polysomnography program required.
• EXPERIENCE: One year experience as a registered polysomnographic technologist preferred.
• PERSONAL JOB-RELATED SKILLS: Knowledge of polysomnography procedures and equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills. Familiar with operating computers and ability to utilize computer systems.
• LICENSURE, REGISTRY, CERTIFICATIONS: Registered polysomnographic technologist certification required.
• PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: Duties of the position require periods of sitting, standing, and walking. Some bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and lifting up to 32 pounds or heavier when supporting patients who may suddenly become weak or helpless. The ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions or directions.
