Job summary

Life Care Centers of America is seeking an Occupational Therapist to provide direct rehab care to patients per physician referral. The OT will follow all applicable laws and Life Care standards while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Required: NBCOT certification on hire, active state license, CPR certification, and a willingness to participate in orientation. Prior OT experience is preferred, but new graduates are encouraged to apply and grow within our post-acute network.

Qualifications

• NBCOT certification upon hire; renewal optional
• Graduate of an accredited OT program (BSOT or MSOT)
• Licensed/registered in the applicable state and maintain active license
• 1 year experience preferred; new grads welcome
• CPR certification upon hire or during orientation; must remain current

Responsibilities

• Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
• Liaisons with patients, families, support departments to plan for patient needs
• Maintain good body mechanics at all times
• Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
• Understand and follow applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards
• Implement and interpret departmental programs and procedures
• Maintain patient rights, safety, and sanitation in all activities
• Maintain professional relationships with associates and vendors
• Maintain confidentiality of information
• Follow company policies including harassment and compliance training
• Adhere to Life Care’s Code of Conduct and complete required trainings
• Follow occupational treatment plans and assess functional goals
• Oversee care provided by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students
• Chart appropriately and timely
• Use therapy software accurately
• Provide excellent customer service to patients
• Assist in evacuation of patients
• Communicate effectively on an interdisciplinary team
• Demonstrate physical capacity to sit, stand, lift, and move as required
• Read, write, speak, and understand English

Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

• Establish, assess, and modify realistic, measurable, timely, and functional goals


• Oversee and evaluate care given by OTAs, Rehab Aides, and students


• Chart appropriately and timely


• Utilize therapy software appropriately and accurately


• Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients


• Assist in the evacuation of patients


• Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment


• Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team


• Sit, stand, bend, lift, push, pull, stoop, walk, reach, and move intermittently during working hours


• Read, write, speak, and understand the English language
