Henry Ford Staffing is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for system float assignments in Michigan. The role involves nights and contingent coverage of 72 hours per month across multiple units, with self-scheduling and flexible commitments to fit clinician needs.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Minimum of three years of related clinical nursing experience.
  • Willingness to float to multiple locations and adapt to diverse environments.
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing; BLS and ACLS are required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple units, developing and evaluating nursing care plans.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications early.
  • Administer medications, perform wound care, provide education, and manage post-operative care.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain timely documentation and adapt to different units within the float pool.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and uphold safe patient care standards.
  • Cover day and night shifts as scheduled to meet staffing needs.

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse - System Float demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in managing complex nursing problems across diverse patient populations and clinical settings. This role requires the ability to rapidly assess and adapt to multiple units and patient care environments while maintaining exceptional standards of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct patient care units, utilizing clinical knowledge to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications or changes in patient condition before significant clinical deterioration occurs
  • Execute a wide range of professional nursing interventions including medication administration, wound care, patient education, and post-operative care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Demonstrate flexibility and clinical judgment by rapidly orienting to different units, patient populations, and care protocols within the float pool environment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and clinical staff to support quality improvement initiatives and maintain safe patient care standards
  • Work assigned day and night shifts as scheduled to meet organizational staffing needs

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of three years of related clinical nursing experience
  • Demonstrated level of performance and practice in nursing care delivery
  • Willingness to float to multiple locations and adapt to diverse clinical environments
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
  • Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities to formulate effective nursing care plans
