Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for direct patient care per physician instructions and in keeping with license training limitations. The RN routes and maintains patient flow, delivers care and handles emergencies as they occur.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Assesses patients’ condition and medical needs
  • Assists in performing waived laboratory tests
  • Attends nursing in service and continuing education programs
  • Evaluates walk-in patients and makes appropriate decisions
  • Identifies primary patient problem(s) and classifies problems as emergent, urgent or non-urgent
  • Informs providers of abnormal, acute or threatening conditions
  • Maintains a clean, pleasant and safe clinic environment
  • Maintains accurate and legible patient information and records
  • Manages the care of patients in collaboration with other health professionals and members of the healthcare team in order to make decisions about treatment and attain health goals
  • Oversees tracking of referrals and tests performed off site
  • Prepares and administers medications
  • Provides medical care, education, instruction and referrals under supervision of provider
  • Receives and responds appropriately to telephone inquiries from patients
  • Records and documents patient information and encounters per protocol
  • Responds to requests for medication refills using clinical protocols
  • Reviews lab, x-ray and emergency room reports and responds as appropriate
  • Using established protocols, summons patients and prepares them to be seen by providers
  • Works closely with team members to prepare pre-visit paperwork
  • Performs other duties, as required

Education and Experience
  • BSN, Registered Nurse Diploma or Certification, must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • CPR certified
  • Currently licensed to practice in the State of Illinois
  • Two (2) years of successful experience in a clinical setting preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Ability to stand for extended periods of time, hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to deliver medical services and use equipment
  • Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissues, contagious diseases and/or other potentially hazardous materials
  • Fine motor coordination sufficient to perform manipulative skills
  • Moderate physical exertion including frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching and carrying moderately heavy loads (up to 25 lbs.)
