Job summary

Bristol Hospice is seeking compassionate Registered Nurses to serve as Warriors of the Night, providing after-hours and weekend care in Visalia, CA. You will join a nationwide, family-centered hospice team focused on compassion, respect and dignity. The role requires RN licensure, hospice knowledge, flexibility, travel within the Bristol

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Nurse with hospice knowledge.
• Must have a current RN license in good standing.
• Understand hospice philosophy and needs of the terminally ill.
• Flexible in work hours.
• Able to use computer data entry and software (word processing, spreadsheets, projects).
• Able to handle stressful situations and grieving families.
• Demonstrate nursing skills per competency checklist.
• Maintain knowledge of information systems and software programs.
• Ability to travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and spend time standing, walking, bending and stretching.

Responsibilities

• Perform after-hours and weekend visits and admissions as needed.
• Direct phone calls to appropriate supervisor or handle as per scope of practice.
• Dispatch field staff to patient residences in a timely manner.
• Refill prescriptions, order supplies and DME as needed.
• Document calls and outcomes in the call-in system.
• Receive start/end-of-shift reports according to location workflow.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

On an An Average Day you Will:

(Includes, but not limited to)

• Will perform after hours and weekend visits and admissions as needed.
• Follow up on phone calls by either directing the phone call to the DPCS, RN Clinical Supervisor/Manager or RN Case Manager and/or taking care of the need immediately per scope of practice
• Dispatch field nurses and other appropriate staff to patient’s residence in a timely manner
• Re-fill prescriptions, order supplies and DME, and assist in any other coordination needed by the patients and families
• Document calls, conversations and outcomes of call-in software system
• Receive start-of-shift report and give end-of-shift report in accordance with the location workflow
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be a Registered Nurse with knowledge of hospice, telephone triage preferred
• Must have a current licensure in good standing with the state
• Must understand the philosophy of hospice concept and understand needs of the terminally ill
• Must be flexible in work hours
• Must show aptitude of computer data entry and the use of current software systems, such as word processing, spreadsheets and projects
• Must possess the ability to deal with stressful situations, as well as grieving families
• Must demonstrate nursing skills per competency checklist
• Must demonstrate a willingness to maintain comprehensive working knowledge regarding information systems and applicable software programs
• Ability to travel throughout the Bristol Hospice Service Area
• Must be able to lift heavy items on a frequent basis
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance and must be able to spend a prolonged amount of time standing, walking, bending and stretching
