Job summary

University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a registered nurse with 12+ months of experience to provide and coordinate care within a clinical specialty. General Summary

This role is considered the minimum role for all nurses who have greater than 12 months of experience. Provides and coordinates independent care to patients within a clinical specialty as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Utilizes the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models as the frame of reference for practicing as a professional nurse. Participates in activities to develop own practice, and to support group practice goals at the unit level. Is accountable to patient, family and team members for care provided and to the nurse manager for totality of work performance. Is accountable to hold to the Service Standards and to the Nursing Mission, Vision and Values.

This position requires a person who exhibits a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, the ability to work productively under stress, and who displays a professional demeanor and is able to prioritize workloads.

• Participates in recruitment and retention activities at the unit level.
• Provides feedback in peer review as requested. Provides direct performance feedback at the direction of the nurse manager.

Work Experience

The employee in this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the age of the patients served. He/she must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the necessary care as described in the department's policies and procedures.

Minimum Education, Experience, and License/Certifications Required

• Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland. Must meet all applicable federal, state, and local professional requirements.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
• Current AHA BLS certification required.
• Must meet all unit-specific certification requirements: (PALS, ACLS, NRP).
• More than 12 months of nursing experience.
• Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills are required.

Compensation

• Full-Time; Nights WEO -ED (7p-730a)
• Pay Range: $42.36 - $56.99/hr. (based on years of experience)
• Other Compensation (if applicable): Weekend Option Shift Differential
