Job summary

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Clinical Nurse to provide evidence-based care on our Residential Unit for high acuity pediatric psychiatry patients. The role emphasizes autonomous practice across practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist and transferor tenets.

The schedule is Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7am-7pm, with emphasis on mentorship, governance of practice, and collaboration with the care team to optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility and BLS certification upon hire.
  • Area of interest: Nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate individualized care for pediatric psychiatry inpatients.
  • Recognize changes in patient status and modify the care plan accordingly.
  • Advocate for patients and uphold informed consent; support families in decision-making.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to best nursing practices.
  • Deliver care within laws, policies and procedures and ensure safe patient outcomes.

Overview

The Clinical Nurse is an engaged and credentialed member of the Professional Nursing Organization and is responsible for autonomous practice directed by the professional tenets of practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist and transferor. The Clinical Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and to continuously monitor and evaluate practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served. The schedule for this position is Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7am-7pm reporting to our Residential Unit.

Responsibilities

  1. Practitioner
  2. Utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement and evaluate an individualized plan of care for inpatient and residential high acuity pediatric psychiatry patients.
  3. Utilizes critical thinking and the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status and demeanor, taking action to modify the plan of care and maintain a therapeutic milieu or to elevate to the care team as necessary.
  4. Practices in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics and scope of practice regulations to advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent and assist patients in families in expressing self-determination.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse with NH eligibility
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire.
  • Area of Interest: Nursing
  • Pay Range: $43.50/Hr. – $61.25/Hr.
  • FTE/Hours per pay period: 1.00 – 1.00 – 40 hrs/week
