Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse Unit Supervisor in Norfolk, VA. The role covers Oncology, Vascular, and Emergency Department units with leadership responsibilities across 24/7 operations.

Overview:

Sentara is hiring full-time Registered Nurse Unit Supervisors at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.

Qualified candidates may be eligible for up to a $20,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift: Days for Oncology, Nights for Vascular, Evenings for ED

Hour s: Oncology: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. / Vascular: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. / ED: 11:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.

Weekends: Every other weekend availability required

Holiday Rotation: Required

Oncology 6 RP Unit Overview

The Oncology 6 RP Unit is a 36-bed inpatient Intermediate Care Unit dedicated to caring for patients with cancer. Nurses on this unit provide compassionate, specialized care while monitoring patient conditions, administering medications, delivering chemotherapy and other treatments, and supporting patients through complex care needs. Care provided on this unit includes chemotherapy, hospice, radiation, stem cell transplant/CAR-T, radioactive iodine, and symptom management.

Vascular 9 K Unit Overview

On 9 Kaufman, you’ll care for a diverse patient population and gain hands-on experience with complex vascular procedures such as aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, femoral bypass surgeries, and amputations. The unit also serves as an extension of our renal/pancreas transplant program, partnering closely with the outpatient transplant center to support patients through critical stages of care. Every bed is monitored, giving nurses the opportunity to strengthen telemetry skills while expanding their expertise in surgical specialty and transplant nursing.

Emergency Department Overview

At Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Emergency Department nurses care for patients in one of the region’s most advanced and fast-paced clinical environments. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma. Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department, Level 1 Trauma Center has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award , honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research

Education Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing ( BSN ) Required or Master of Science in Nursing ( MSN ) preferred

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred

Experience Requirements

• 2 years RN experience Required
• Emergency Department experience preferred
• One year Nursing Leadership/Supervisory experience required

The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services for acute care shares the 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provides high quality outcomes and an exceptional patient/family experience; assists manager in the development and monitoring of the departmental budget; coordinates the purchasing and payroll processes; serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members; and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and to mentor/assist staff. Assists manager with interviewing, hiring, developing, and retaining staff members with the goal of developing a highly reliable work team. May coordinate and/or assist with staff education, orientation and precepting of members of the team. Utilizes effective communication/ interpersonal skills and is able to adapt leadership style to support achieving department goals and objectives.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $104,416.00 - $154,356.80 annually.Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Note: If an annual salary is posted, it is based on a full-time colleague working 2,080 hours annually.
