Job summary

UPMC Somerset is seeking a compassionate Staff Nurse for our Same Day Services team in a fast-paced outpatient setting. The role spans SDS, GI, Pain Clinic, PACU, and Pre-Admission Testing with a rotating practice model requiring flexibility.

Ideal candidate has RN licensure with 1 year med/surg experience and credentials like ACLS, PALS, BLS/CPR. BSN preferred. Schedule includes 8-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with rotating call for holidays/weekends.

Qualifications

• 1 year general medical/surgical nursing experience.
• BSN preferred.
• Current RN licensure and required certifications (ACLS, PALS, BLS/CPR).
• Licensure and clearances per facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, autonomous nursing care using independent judgment and teamwork.
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members to support care goals.

UPMC Somerset is seeking a dedicated Staff Nurse to join our Same Day Services team!

This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where collaboration, patient-centered care, and professional growth are at the heart of everything we do. Nurses also gain valuable experience across SDS, GI, Pain Clinic, PACU, and Pre-Admission Testing through a rotating practice model that requires flexibility and adaptability.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings experience in critical care, the Emergency Department (ED), and/or PACU, along with strong critical thinking, autonomy, and the ability to quickly evaluate changing patient data to make objective, evidence-based clinical decisions.

Schedule: Varying 8-hour shifts between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM

Call Requirement: Rotating call for holidays and weekends

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Registered Nurse (RN)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

• NIH Certification will be required within 6 months of hire for applicable units

• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

• Act 33 with renewal

• Act 34 with renewal

• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
