Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital in Battle Creek, MI, is offering a temporary, full-time, 13-week RN assignment with a fixed rate of $55 per hour, plus a $3 night diff. Travel stipends are not provided. Current Acadia Healthcare employees are not eligible for this assignment.

Shift options include night shifts 7:00pm–7:30am with an every-other-weekend rotation. You must have at least one year of behavioral health nursing experience and an RN license in good standing.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN license in the state of employment or eligible to practice.
• One year of nursing experience; behavioral/psychiatric background a plus.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certifications required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about conditions.
• Ensure orders are transcribed accurately and status is documented.
• Administer medications as ordered and document counts of controlled substances.

Job description

This is a temporary, full-time, 13-week nursing assignment with a fixed rate of $55 per hour and is not benefits-eligible. This is a direct temporary opportunity (not an agency contract), and travel stipends or travel reimbursements are not provided. Candidates must have at least one year of behavioral health experience. Temporary employees may be eligible to convert to a regular full-time position if offered. Current Acadia Healthcare employees are not eligible for this temporary assignment.

Shift Option: (all include an every other weekend rotation):

• Night Shift: 7:00pm-7:30am (3-12 hour shifts w/every other weekend rotation)

HOURLY RATE: $55.00 per hour (plus a $3/hour night diff)

Bronson Behavioral Health Hospital is 96-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital that opened in 2023 in Battle Creek, MI. Our hospital addresses the growing need in southwest Michigan for more accessible, high-quality behavioral health services. We offer a full continuum of inpatient behavioral healthcare services for adult patients including comprehensive treatment for those who struggle with acute symptoms of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder.

Registered Nurse Essential Functions

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
• Ensure patients’ status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information is gathered and documented.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency, change in medical status regarding response to medications, and related challenges.
• Ensure that initial nursing treatment plans are completed upon admission and that all nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
• Accurately administer medications per ordered note.
• Document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
• Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, giving patients direct attention, and maintaining rational detachment.
• Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
• Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved inpatient treatment.

Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements
• One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience a plus
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
