Job summary

The South Bend Clinic in South Bend, IN is seeking a skilled RN to join the Operating Room team on a full-time, day shift at the Eddy Street Campus.

You will conduct preoperative assessments, verify consent and procedure, educate patients, and support recovery in PACU, with collaboration across surgeons and anesthesia teams.

Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and families about the surgical process and recovery expectations.
  • Postoperative phase: monitor recovery, assess vitals and pain, administer meds.
  • General duties: collaborate with surgeons, ensure regulatory compliance and accurate documentation.

Hours : Full-Time - Days; 32 Hours Weekly.

No Weekends, Nights, Holidays or On-Call!!

Responsibilities:

Preoperative Phase:

  • Conduct patient assessments, including medical history and physical status
  • Verify surgical consent, site, and procedure
  • Educate patients and families about the surgical process and recovery expectations
  • Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery

Postoperative Phase:

  • Monitor patients in the recovery phase – PACU and Phase 2
  • Assess vital signs, pain level, and surgical site
  • Administer medications and manage pain control
  • Provide discharge instructions and patient education
  • Recognize and respond to complications

General Duties:

  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff education
  • Support a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability

Qualifications:

  • Current Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and/or PALS within 3 months of employment
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and organizational skills
