Job summary

Breckinridge Health Inc in Hardinsburg, KY is seeking a Registered Nurse (Surgery) on a PRN basis to provide perioperative nursing care outside the sterile field and coordinate with the health care team.

You will review medical records, administer medications, manage IVs, monitor patient pain, and ensure safe, high-quality perioperative care. KY RN licensure and BLS/ACLS required.

Qualifications

• Active Kentucky Registered Nurse Licensure.
• BLS and ACLS Certification.
• Surgical experience required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for activities of the operating room outside the sterile field and for managing nursing care of the surgical patient in the room.
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Reviews patient's medical record and assures the completeness of the patient chart.
• Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
• Provides basic, bedside care.
• Prepares and administers medications and records prescribed medications.
• Initiates, maintains and discontinues IVs.
• Conducts ongoing assessments and reprioritizes care accordingly.
• Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner.
• Documents patient assessment findings and progress.

• Documents patient assessment findings, physical/psychosocial responses to nursing intervention and progress toward problem resolution.
• Assesses pain upon admission and throughout stay and utilizes appropriate pain management techniques.
• Monitors sterile and aseptic techniques in all areas of the perioperative process.
• Provides necessary material, supplies, and equipment in good working order for the completion of quality patient care throughout the perioperative care.
• Participates in department inventory and routine cleaning of the department.
