THE POSITION

As a Registered Nurse Supervisor with the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix, you will take charge of daily nursing operations that directly support the health of inmates. Your leadership will strengthen staff performance, increase efficiency, and maintain high care standards. You will be part of a dedicated team that values steady focus and decisive action. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position directs nursing staff and supports medical care for individuals with physical, behavioral, and developmental needs in a correctional environment. As a Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Supervision: Direct nursing staff, provide orientation and training, and ensure coverage across all shifts
• Clinical Oversight: Implement care plans, administer medications, perform treatments, and assist with daily living needs
• Medical Support: Assist with physical exams, chronic care visits, specialty clinics, and emergency medical response
• Documentation Management: Review medical records, prepare transfer reports, maintain controlled substance logs, and meet documentation deadlines
• Supply Coordination: Sterilize instruments, track inventory, and maintain adequate treatment supplies
• Skill Maintenance: Participate in required trainings and stay updated on policy and procedure changes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $102,526.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Registered Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of professional nursing experience providing care and treatment services consistent with those needed for individuals with a mental or physical injury or illness and/or a developmental disability.

Special Requirements:

• You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
• All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
