Job summary

Mercyhealth in Wisconsin is seeking an experienced RN for PRN shifts in our SubAcute Unit. You will provide compassionate nursing care, administer treatments and medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to promote safe, high-quality outcomes.

You will develop patient care plans, educate patients and families, document according to standards, and participate in performance improvement activities. ADN required with 2+ years of experience; BSN preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • ADN is required at hire; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing care and administers medications and treatments.
  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.
  • Develops and executes patient plans of care with physician or clinic policy.
  • Educates patients and families; documents according to standards of care.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and peer review.
  • Mentors and precepts new staff; supports ongoing professional development.

OVERVIEWIn this role, you will provide compassionate nursing care, administer treatments and medications, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, develop care plans, educate patients and families, and promote safe, high-quality outcomes.Schedule: PRNShift: Variable - As neededClick here to learn about our SubAcute UnitESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.Documents according to standards of care.Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and-or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and-or departments in support of the patient’s longitudinal plan of care.Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.Offers ideas and-or solutions to practice issues.Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.Provides innovative ways to educate patient-familiesInitiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEGraduate of an accredited nursing program.ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.Minimum of 2 years experience required.CERTIFICATION/LICENSURELicensed as an RN in state of practiceApproved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 daysOther certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRPOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESMay include color blind test (per department guidelines)LEVEL OF SUPERVISIONCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
