Job Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing, and administering patient care within the scope of his/her training and expertise, collaborating with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes is met. This is done in conjunction with the objectives and policies of the hospital and the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Tennessee.

NEW INCREASED NIGHT SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL TO $10/HOUR FOR NIGHT RNs!

Hours of Position: Full-time (36 hours/week), nights (6:45p - 6:45a) Stepdown is a 21 bed hardwired telemetry unit that focuses on acutely ill but stable patients requiring closer monitoring. We care for patients with a variety of cardiac, vascular and medical diagnoses with specialized needs such as cardiac arrhythmias, bedside cardioversions, titrated medications, oxygenation management, withdrawal, sepsis, stroke, and post-operative care. Our staff is dedicated to provide excellent care to our patients. Our environment is challenging, fast‑paced, team‑oriented, and patient and family centered. Our staff is very engaged with problem‑solving and identifying ways to improve patient care. They have a desire to continue learning, have strong communication skills, and collaborate with the team to provide excellent patient care. Daily interdisciplinary rounds include the provider, registered nurse, case manager, and a nurse leader. Each shift begins with a safety huddle to look back and forward 24 hours to review safety and quality concerns. Ratio 4:1 Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Orientation.

Professionalism: critical thinking, collaboration, multidisciplinary rounding, bedside shift report, shared governance, certifications.

Medical equipment: ECG hardwired, alaris, pca, epidural, Etc02, bladder scanner, bipap, high flow oxygen therapy. Drips: cardiac, IV fluids, blood products, sedation, TPN.

• Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.


• Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.


• Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.


• Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

HOME CARE(NOVICE):

Possesses ample fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty in the home setting.

Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.

Care Planning (Novice):

Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs, identify distinct tasks, set priorities, schedule activities, meet deadlines, and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. Competently handles multiple assignments often simultaneously by prioritizing work into manageable and measurable units. Ability to adapt to changes to patient care and area needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Follows up to assure problems and issues are resolved.

Evidence-Based Nutrition Practice (Novice):

Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in successfully search for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
