Job summary

City of Hope in Newnan, GA is seeking a Registered Nurse for Stem Cell Transplant, full-time days, to deliver patient-centered oncology care across adult and geriatric populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will develop individualized care plans using the nursing process, mentor other team members, coordinate with diverse disciplines, and advocate for patient and family needs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years Cellular Therapy experience or equivalent by leadership.
• BSN required or enrolled within 6 months; BSN completed within 3 years.
• Active Georgia RN license or compact-state license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; ACLS must be current within 30 days of hire.
• ONS BMTCN or equivalent certification required on hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centered care for oncology patients across adult and geriatric populations in inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Deliver care across malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation using nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Inspire and guide other care team members for enhanced patient outcomes through communication, preceptorship, mentorship and delegation.
• Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals and support persons; address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs.
• Document nursing care accurately and maintain infection control and safety standards.
• Delegate tasks per GA Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions; participate in onboarding of new staff.
• Pursue professional growth and maintain competencies; perform additional duties as assigned.

The RN, Stem Cell Transplant will provide patient centered care to oncology patients across the adult and geriatric spectrum in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Demonstrate a high level of competency across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Deliver exceptional care across all domains of practice when caring for patients receiving cellular therapies. Develop and implement an individualized plan of utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Be responsible for inspiring and guiding other qualified patient care team members to ensure enhanced patient outcomes through effective communication, collaboration, preceptorship, mentorship, and effective delegation in the exercise of his/her independent judgment. Address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of the patient and caregiver in the delivery of nursing care. Coordinate the plan of care with other healthcare professionals, support persons, and all members of the healthcare team.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work FT Days, 7a-7p.
• Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents the care of patients across the continuum of malignant hematology and stem cell transplantation. Assists with special procedures. Directs the care delivered by Patient Care Technicians and other members of the healthcare team.
• Adheres to the hospital and department infection control policies including but not limited to hand hygiene, asepsis, isolation practice, and employee health practice.
• Effectively communicates with peers to resolve conflict.
• Assists in the on-boarding of new employees.
• Protects the patient's dignity, rights, and privacy.
• Assesses the knowledge level of the patient or designated support person.
• Delegate tasks according to the Georgia Nurse Practice Act and job descriptions.
• Document nursing care, implants, and specimens accurately, completely, and legibly.
• Collaborate with other disciplines as applicable.
• Maintain required competencies.
• Pursue professional growth and keep current with technology.
• Completes additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

• 1-3 years of experience in Cellular Therapy (Stem Cell Transplant and/or Immune Effector Cell), or as deemed qualified by Cellular Therapy Leadership.
• Education- BSN required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and BSN completed within three years from hire date.
• Licensure-Georgia Registered Nurse License or a Registered Nurse License form a Compact State
• Certification- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification- an approved American Heart Association (AHA) training site certification is required upon hire. If their current certification does not meet the guidelines, stakeholders will have (30) days from the date of hire to attend an onsite initial BLS course and will be required to renew every two years. See specific role for any additional requirements. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification. Stakeholders will have thirty (30) days from the date of hire to acquire American Heart Association (AHA) ACLS certification and will need to be renewed every two years. Will not be allowed to provide ACLS for patients independently until AHA ACLS cards are obtained
• Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Fundamentals of Chemotherapy Immunotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Certificate is required upon hire. Exempt with proof of previous ONS equivalent course or Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN) certification
