Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA seeks an experienced Registered Nurse for an evening shift. You will provide direct patient care using the nursing process, assess patients, develop care plans and coordinate discharge planning in a mid- to high-acuity hospital setting.

This non-exempt, full-time role requires MA nursing licensure, BLS (ACLS where required), and a BSN is preferred. The position may include a signing bonus and weekend rotations in a supportive, patient‑centered team.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS may be required depending on unit.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process from admission to discharge.
• Perform patient assessments and plan individualized care including discharge planning.

Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.

I. Major Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient’s care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.

II. Position Qualifications:

Required

• Current Massachusetts Nursing licensure and registration.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advance cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Preferred

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing highly preferred.

Experience/Skills

Required:

• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment.
