Role Summary

Provide high-quality, cost-effective care to patients reporting sexual assault. Perform medical-forensic exams, evidence collection, and coordinate with law enforcement and advocacy groups, ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct physical and forensic assessments, obtain evidence with proper consent, document findings, and facilitate injury treatment. Offer crisis intervention, patient education on procedures, STD and pregnancy prevention, and follow-up care. Participate in community and professional education and provide legal testimony when needed.

Qualifications & Skills

Completed IAFN-accredited SANE A adult course, Illinois RN licensure, with preferred experience in emergency medicine or women's health. A minimum of one year as a SANE RN and a bachelor's degree in nursing are preferred.

Certifications

Valid Illinois RN license; additional certifications must be approved by the Illinois SANE Coordinator if from outside Illinois.
