Job description

Passport Health is North America’s largest travel medicine and immunization provider, with 300+ clinics across the U.S. and Canada. We’re looking for experienced RNs who are ready to step out of a high-pressure hospital or traditional clinic setting and into a role built around autonomy, specialized expertise, and genuine one-on-one patient connection.

What Makes This Role Different:

Most of our nurses work independently - no charge nurse, no team overhead, no endless task lists. You manage your day by seeing your clients, and providing them with the best experience possible. You will be supported by a network of clinical leadership, but the day-to-day is yours.Travel medicine is a specialty. You’ll develop deep expertise in vaccine-preventable diseases, international health risks, and pre-travel health planning - knowledge most nurses never get to build. Every client interaction is a true consultation, not a check-the-box encounter.

  • Location(s): Evergreen Park, IL (primary clinic), with coverage at nearby Chicago-area clinics
  • Required Days: Mondays and Fridays. These are our busiest days at Evergreen Park, so availability on both is required.

Employment Type: Full-Time: 32 hrs/week
Compensation: $40.00hr/
Weekly Hours & Schedule:

Additional Coverage Locations: Willingness to cover one or more of the following clinics is preferred:

  • Orland Park, IL (about 32 minutes from Evergreen Park)
  • Hinsdale, IL (about 40-45 minutes)
  • Oak Park, IL (about 40-45 minutes)
What You’ll Do
  • Conduct in-depth travel health consultations and educate clients on destination-specific risks
  • Administer vaccines per standing orders and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Recommend and promote travel health products and medications as clinically appropriate
  • Manage clinic setup, inventory, and compliance with safety and documentation protocols
  • Support onsite corporate wellness or vaccine clinic events as needed
  • Complete ongoing travel medicine training - we invest in keeping your clinical knowledge current
Immigration Medical Services - Required Following States:

AZ, CO, FL, IL, MA, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NM, OH, OK, TX

Various Passport Health locations support immigration-related medical services, including civil surgeon exams and required vaccinations for USCIS applicants. At these clinics, performing immigration physicals and maintaining strict USCIS documentation compliance is a required part of the role. Training is provided, but attention to detail and comfort with regulated documentation workflows is essential.

Scheduling - The Honest Picture

Passport Health uses a census-based scheduling model, similar to what you may have seen in hospital or outpatient settings. We want you going in with realistic expectations. The nurses who thrive here are those who value the trade-off: less rigidity, more autonomy, and the ability to build a schedule that works for their life and for the business needs, even if that means some week-to-week variability.

Here’s what that means in practice:

  • Mondays and Fridays at Evergreen Park are required shifts. Any additional days are assigned based on clinic demand
  • Hours are based on client demand, which varies by location and season
  • We create a schedule that offers 6-12 months of consistency, helping provide stability, while recognizing that hours are not guaranteed in some markets
  • To support schedule planning and consistency, we require availability within set scheduling windows, which allows us to provide a clear, forward-looking view of your work schedule
  • We do our best to honor availability, and flexibility (preferred day/time coverage, weekends, or willingness to cover multiple locations) can increase your scheduled hours
  • Coverage at Orland Park, Hinsdale, and/or Oak Park may be scheduled as needed. Candidates open to covering these clinics will have more opportunity for hours
  • Peak travel seasons (typically February-August) generally bring higher and more stable volume
What You Need to Succeed
  • Compact (multistate) RN licensure accepted - you must legally reside in the state where you are licensed and providing care
  • 3+ years of clinical nursing experience (travel medicine background a plus, not required)
  • Comfortable working independently - you won’t always have backup in the clinic
  • Strong patient communication and education skills
  • Reliable access to a personal computer (training systems require desktop or laptop)
  • Proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification
  • Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed (up to 25 lbs)
  • Reliable transportation to travel between clinic locations
Ideal For Nurses Who
  • Are adaptable - comfortable shifting gears between high-volume and consultative modes
  • Want the range of both clinic types without switching locations
  • Are reliable for weekend coverage and flexible with scheduling
  • Are open to covering multiple clinics in the Chicago area
