Registered Nurse (RN), Telemetry – Full‑time Nights

Shift: 7 pm – 7:30 am, every third weekend. Full‑time position.

Job Summary

Provide and coordinate independent care to patients within a telemetry clinical specialty as an effective member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team. Utilize the institution’s care delivery and professional practice models. Participate in activities to develop personal practice and support unit‑level goals.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
Clinical Practice
  • Competent care of the unit‑specific patient population; independently practice with solid knowledge and clinical skills; actively advance own practice.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for others.
  • Apply and integrate evidence into practice.
  • Function effectively in roles specific to the unit, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care; independently advocate for patient/family needs.
  • Model practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, equitable, patient‑centered care.
Professional Development
  • Engage in advancing personal practice.
  • Maintain competencies required for the patient care setting; focus on own professional development.
  • Attend unit‑based staff development independently.
  • Serve as a trained preceptor and coach for new nurses and students.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of unit‑based orientation and other education activities.
  • Support development of nursing support personnel.
  • Complete CE’s annually based on facility minimum requirements.
Service and Quality
  • Understand and contribute to unit‑based outcomes related to National Hospital Quality Measures (NDNQI), Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators, and the Facility Annual Operational Plan.
  • Contribute to and endorse research/EBP/QI initiatives.
  • Provide high‑quality, safe, patient‑centered care with a focus on exceeding service expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hold others accountable; participate in tracer activities when requested.
Patient Safety
  • Take action to correct observed risks to patient safety.
  • Report adverse events and near‑misses to the appropriate management authority.
  • Consistently implement policies, procedures, and guidelines in assigned duties.
  • Develop effective working relationships and maintain good communication with team members.
  • Identify possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicate them to those in charge.
  • Participate in hospital, departmental, and unit safety initiatives.
Operations
  • Demonstrate ability to function in the charge nurse role.
  • Participate in team‑building efforts on the unit.
  • Contribute to and attend briefings and staff meetings regularly.
  • Participate in unit, nursing division, and organizational governance structures.
  • Engage in recruitment and retention activities at the unit level.
  • Provide feedback during peer review as requested and give direct performance feedback at the nurse manager’s direction.
Work Experience and Licensure
  • Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Maryland, or eligibility to practice through Compact state agreements.
  • More than 12 months of nursing experience with solid knowledge and clinical skills.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Meet all unit‑specific certification requirements (e.g., BCLS).
Compensation

Pay Range: $37.00 – $54.18 per hour.

Other Compensation: Shift differentials and a $15,000 sign‑on bonus (restrictions may apply).
