Job summary

Advocate Christ Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Surgical Trauma ICU. This .9 FTE role covers 7p–7a on a 3-shift weekly schedule with a weekend/holiday track, in a 20-bed unit focused on trauma and peri-operative care.

Candidates must have an accredited nursing program completion and an Illinois RN license. The team operates with collaboration among trauma surgeons, APNs, RNs, and support staff, providing ventilator management, wound care, and critical patient

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers.
• 1 year nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process.
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in line with standards, policies, and procedures.
• Apply evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, and effective communication to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.

Where You Will Work

Surgical & Trauma Intensive Care Unit, is a 20-bed ICU that cares for critically ill patients with a focus on traumatic injuries and close monitoring in the peri-operative phase of care. This collaborative environment is supported by our Trauma Surgeons & Consultants, Surgical Residents, Advanced Practice RNs, Nurses, and Nursing Assistants. Through ventilator management, serial assessments, intravenous infusions/medications, wound care, education, and rehabilitative therapies, our care team works tirelessly to support our patients and their recovery.

We’re Looking For

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• 1 year previous nursing experience preferred.

What You’ll Do

• As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
