Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI is seeking registered nurses to join the Operating Room team. This role offers the chance to care for patients in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with pathways from new grads to experienced OR nurses.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred; must obtain within eight years of hire.

• RNs without OR experience may be considered for internship with at least two years of clinical nursing experience.

Surgical Nurse Internship Opportunity

While previous Operating Room experience is preferred, Bronson is also considering licensed Registered Nurses with at least two years of clinical nursing experience who are interested in transitioning into surgical care through our Surgical Nurse Internship Program.

This comprehensive program is designed to prepare nurses for the fast-paced and evolving field of surgical nursing through an extended orientation that includes:

• Classroom instruction and structured learning


• Hands-on training in foundational and advanced surgical skills


• Clinical experience alongside experienced surgical teams


• Development of critical thinking and specialized surgical nursing competencies


• Education aligned with current surgical nursing standards and best practices

Internship Schedule & Expectations

The internship begins with eight weeks of standard 8-hour daytime shifts before transitioning to second shift schedules with weekend responsibilities. Participants will also complete one week on third shift.

As training progresses, interns will begin participating in buddy call before transitioning into a first/second call rotation. Call responsibilities typically occur one week out of every four, with approximately one to six weekends worked throughout the program.

• Previous Operating Room nursing experience preferred


• Registered Nurses without OR experience may be considered for the Surgical Nurse Internship Program with a minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience
