Job summary

Harlingen Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Services team. The role focuses on safe, high-quality perioperative care, coordinating with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the broader surgical team.

A sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates and full-time days with a strong benefits package. The RN will circulate, assist with patient positioning, document thoroughly, and uphold infection prevention and patient privacy standards throughout the surgical

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification.
• ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
• PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year perioperative experience or on-the-job training.
• CNOR certification (AORN) preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Circulate during surgical procedures and assist with patient positioning.
• Maintain sterile environment and ensure accurate documentation and counting.
• Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the surgical team.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and post-operative care.
• Protect patient privacy and comply with safety standards.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, high-quality patient care throughout the surgical experience utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice while maintaining a safe and sterile surgical environment. The Registered Nurse works closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and other members of the surgical team to coordinate patient care and respond quickly to changes in the patient’s condition. Responsibilities include circulating duties, patient positioning, maintaining accurate documentation and surgical counts, and supporting infection prevention and safety standards. The Registered Nurse also provides patient and family education, maintains professional nursing standards, and protects patient privacy and confidentiality while ensuring safe, effective care before, during, and immediately following surgical procedures.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
• Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
• Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
• Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
