Job summary

State of Wyoming seeks a Public Health Nurse Supervisor in Park County to lead and manage nursing programs, ensuring quality care and alignment with public health goals.

You will supervise staff, supervise programs, and collaborate with county/state partners to strengthen health outcomes across Wyoming. Eligible for a $2,000 hiring bonus; requires RN licensure in Wyoming and willingness to travel within the state.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Supervises public health nursing programs under the direction of the County Nurse Manager by collecting, analyzing, and utilizing data to evaluate program implementation and outcomes.
  • Ensures high-quality patient care and adherence to policies, procedures, standards, and regulations.
  • Provides direct patient care to public health clients in the home, office, and community setting.
  • Provides leadership, training, and direct supervision of nursing staff.
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates services based on community health needs.
  • Assists the County Nurse Manager with the local nursing agency budget.
  • Collaborates with local and state response coordinators for effective public health preparedness and response.
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:

Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree, work experience in public health nursing or similar nursing experience, three years of professional work as a registered nurse, and supervisory experience.

**Must be licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

**Must have an active driver's license

**Must be able to travel throughout the State and to national conferences, if requested

**Must be able to work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires

KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of principles of nursing and management processes.
  • Knowledge of medical diagnosis and treatment of patient care using nursing diagnosis.
  • Knowledge of organization, planning, and team building.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public health nursing.
  • Knowledge of human service management to include supervisory techniques, methods, and standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (typically in Nursing)

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

OR

Education & ExperienceSubstitution:

4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Nursing) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Nurse

Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Wyoming

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Lift/transfer patients to different positions.
  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights up to about 50 lbs.
  • Restrain clients for treatments, climb stairs to patient homes, and drive long distances.
  • Travel throughout the state and to national conferences if requested.
  • Work evenings, nights, and/or weekends when the situation requires it.

  • Yearly influenza vaccination is also required, unless medically contraindicated.
  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant. This position is located in the Public Health Nursing Section.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption is required as the position provides services in CMS-regulated facilities

  • Employees will only be eligible for (1) hiring bonus in 12 months.
