Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Comprehensive understanding of patient care, including the ability to conduct thorough assessments using the nursing process. Strong knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act and the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse. Ability to process complex clinical information using critical thinking to develop, implement, and support individualized care plans. Ability to effectively delegate tasks to team members, ensuring a collaborative, team-based approach to delivering high‑quality patient care. Familiarity with healthcare technology that enhances patient safety and care efficiency (e.g., bar code scanning, electronic health records).

Supervision Provided by this Position

The Registered Nurse directs and delegates all patient care activities on nursing units.

Physical Demands

Physical activities may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. Medium work: exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. Requires close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, or extensive reading. Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials. Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
