Job Description:

Unit Specializes in: Our 20‑bed surgical intensive care unit cares for a patient population with multiple and complex surgical diagnoses including post‑cardiac catheterization with interventions, open heart surgery, and other procedures that require hourly monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon‑pumps and Impella devices. RNs utilize the hypothermic protocol in post‑arrest patients and attend the American Association of Critical‑Care Nurses based orientation. DMC Sinai‑Grace Hospital is DMC’s largest hospital, offering a comprehensive heart center, cancer care, gerontology, emergency medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and cosmetic services. Sinai‑Grace’s joint replacement program features minimally invasive knee and hip replacement surgery that attracts patients nationwide. The hospital operates more than 21 outpatient care sites and ambulatory surgery centers Syrate throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties and is one of 10 hospitals nationally awarded a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant to advance cardiac care standards.

The DMC RN:

1. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians and other health‑care providers.
2. Delegates, assesses, provides, and evaluates patient care.
3. Provides and bitters delegate patient care activities to team members.
4. Monitors patient progress and prepares patients for discharge.
5. Reports directly to senior unit management and participates in shared decision‑making activities.

Qualifications:

1. Graduation from a school of nursing required.
2. BSN preferred.
3. Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan required.
4. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
