Job summary

Banner Health’s Thunderbird Medical Center in Glendale, AZ seeks a Registered Nurse for the PCU Telemetry unit. The 6th floor 40-bed PCU handles multisystem cases, with training offered for new-to-service nurses. Night shifts, rotating weekends/holidays, 18% night diff, and a $3/hour weekend diff when applicable.

Sign-on bonus of $15,000 available. Ideal candidates have telemetry or acute care background and strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in state of practice and BLS certification required.
• Telemetry or acute care experience preferred; will train as needed.
• Ability to work night shifts and 3x12-hour shifts per week.

This is our 6th Floor, General Medical PCU Unit, that focuses total care patients Telemetry experience is preferred, however, we will consider all areas of nursing and train a new to service nurse. We are currently seeking experienced PCU Nurses but at this time we are accepting application for those that have Telemetry, ICU, Home Health, Skilled Nursing, Medical/Surgical or any other acute or critical care background.As a PCU Registered Nurse, you will care for a wide variety of patients. the 6th floor is a 40-bed general Medical PCU floor with the largest amount of variety, including multisystem complexly ill patients. As a PCU Registered Nurse, you will care for a wide variety of patients, such as vascular, cardio-thoracic surgical, heart failure, Neuro and respiratory. Our patients come from the ICU, as upgrades from floors due to a change in their acuity and as admits from the ED. Skills needed for this unit include self-driven nurses who can respond quickly to changes in the patient’s condition, critical thinking, effective communication, teamwork, positive mindset, willing to overcome barriers and challenges by implementing evidence-based practice and flexibility. Our model supports learning at all levels. This is a full-time night shift opportunity working 3 12hr shifts a week. Rotating weekends and holidays required. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and assures completion within appropriate timeframe. Reviews available information obtained by other health care team members. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need and as outlined in policy.2. Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input. Initiates a plan of care based on patient-specific needs, assessment data and the medical plan of care. Goals for patient are realistic, measurable and developed in conjunction with the patient/family. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies and procedures, standards of care, and regulatory agency requirements. Delegates appropriately, and provides nursing supervision in the provision of care to patients by other licensed nurses and other personnel. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for whom care is provided.4. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed. Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely and in accordance with policy. Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, Banner Home Care/Hospice or Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
