  • Complete nursing assessments and monitor patients for changes in physical, behavioral, psychiatric, and withdrawal status.
  • Administer medications and treatments per provider orders; document response and report adverse events.
  • Monitor withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, and clinical status; notify provider and arrange higher level of care when indicated.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, shift reporting, care coordination, education, and discharge planning.
  • Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies and initiate CPR and other interventions as clinically indicated.
  • Maintain confidential clinical documentation per HIPAA and organizational policy.
  • Protect patient rights and provide trauma-informed, person-centered care.
  • Follow infection prevention and medication safety procedures.
  • Delegate/nurse-related tasks per law and policy.
  • Participate in training, competency assessments, quality improvement, and regulatory activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the RN scope of practice.

Job description

The RN provides nursing assessment, medication administration, monitoring, emergency response, patient education, and interdisciplinary care within the RN scope of practice.

Responsibilities Include:
  1. Complete nursing assessments and monitor patients for changes in physical, behavioral, psychiatric, and withdrawal status.
  2. Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, nursing standards, and facility policy; document patient response and report adverse reactions or medication errors.
  3. Monitor withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, and clinical status; promptly notify the appropriate provider and arrange a higher level of care when indicated.
  4. Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, shift reporting, care coordination, patient education, and discharge planning.
  5. Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies and initiate CPR, first aid, emergency medical services, or other interventions as clinically indicated.
  6. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 when applicable, LDH requirements, CARF standards, and organizational policy.
  7. Protect patient rights, dignity, privacy, and safety; provide trauma-informed, person-centered care and report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or rights violations.
  8. Follow infection prevention, medication security, controlled substance, drug screening, emergency preparedness, and patient safety procedures.
  9. Delegate and supervise nursing-related tasks only when permitted by law, competency, and organizational policy.
  10. Participate in required training, competency assessments, quality improvement, incident review, and regulatory/accreditation activities.
  11. Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Nursing or Facility Administrator within the RN scope of practice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, respond promptly to emergencies, assist patients as needed, and perform duties involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other healthcare hazards. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable law.
