Job summary

Cypress Creek Hospital, a 128-bed acute care psychiatric facility in north Houston, is seeking PRN Registered Nurses for various shifts to support Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units. The RN will implement and evaluate patient care, supervise nursing staff, and collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer and House Supervisor.

Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities include admissions assessments, medication administration, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and TX RN license.
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications required.
• Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• State and Federal OIG checks.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient admissions process with nursing assessment.
• Document ongoing patient assessments per standards.
• Administer medications as prescribed by a physician.
• Participate as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide milieu management and unit team leadership.
• Provide nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
• Report unsafe conditions.
• Provide age-specific communication and interventions.
• Provide health education to patients and families.
• Assist with discharge planning per policy.

Position Summary

The RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units; for providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members; for assuming responsibilities delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, or House Supervisor; for personal and professional growth and development. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory agency standards.
• Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.

• Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
• Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
• Reports unsafe conditions.
• Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
• Provides health education to patients and their families.
• Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
• Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence
• Attends mandatory staff meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
• Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
