Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for the Post Intensive Care Unit III at the New Brunswick campus. The unit cares for respiratory and critical patients with bed monitors and step-down capability.

Night shift, 36 hours per week (7p–7:30a) with some weekends/holidays. Must hold ASN or Nursing Diploma; BSN preferred within 5 years; NJ RN license; BLS/ACLS certification; telemetry and ventilator experience are valued.

Qualifications

• ASN or Nursing Diploma is required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient computer skills.
• BSN preferred within 5 years upon hire.
• At least 1 year of RN experience.
• Telemetry and intermediate care experience.
• Ventilator experience.
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License.
• BLS and ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and standards.
• Ensure safety and apply evidence-based practice.

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Post Intensive Care Unit III at the New Brunswick campus.

Post Intensive Care Unit III is also known as the Respiratory Care Unit. It is comprised of 19 bed each with a bedside monitor and the capability for step down ICU/progressive care. We care for a vast array of medical patients including ALS, chronic ventilator patients, pneumonia, alcohol withdrawal.

Qualifications:

Required:

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient computer skills

Preferred:

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• At least 1 year of RN experience
• Telemetry and intermediate care experience
• Previous ventilator experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements

• Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7p-7:30a
• Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation
• PT

Essential Functions:

• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.
• The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.
• The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
• The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
