Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Texas seeks a dedicated PICU nurse to care for critically ill pediatric burn patients from admission through discharge. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care with a multidisciplinary team, ensuring family involvement and culturally appropriate communication.

Requirements include a BSN in progress, Texas RN license, and BLS certification; two years in acute care are preferred, with ICU/PACU/NICU experience and bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Qualifications

• Texas RN license required or in progress.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Two years’ acute care hospital experience; ICU/PACU/NICU preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess comprehensive data and plan individualized care for pediatric burn patients.
• Collaborate with patient, family, and healthcare team to implement and evaluate care.
• Deliver education to patient/family and adapt plan to learning needs.

In this position, you will have the unique opportunity to help our patients through their journey from the moment the child is wheeled through the door through the time the child leaves to go home. Many of our patients return for follow up care as they grow. This will give you an opportunity as a nurse to see your great work shine through the child as they grow older.Key Responsibilities:Assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs and interprets assessment information to derive the diagnosis.Involves patient, family and health care team members in formulating a culturally appropriate individualized plan of care and identifies expected outcomes based on nursing assessment and diagnosis.Implements the plan of care in partnership with the patient, family and health care team members.Utilizes teaching strategies appropriate to the individual patient's condition and learning needs.Evaluates the patient/family's understanding of and response to the plan of care.Required Qualifications:BSN degree or in progressTexas RN licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart AssociationTwo years’ acute care hospital experiencePreferred Qualifications:Previous ICU, PACU or NICU experiencePediatric experienceBilingual English/SpanishCompensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
