Job summary

Mercy Health seeks a Registered Nurse with PICC experience to provide vascular access, placing PICC lines and peripheral IVs, and to obtain lab work as needed, with or without ultrasound. You will collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, effective care and document all nursing activities.

The role requires Kentucky nursing licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Ultrasound-guided IV/PICC experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license in Kentucky, BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
• Preferred ultrasound-guided IV insertion and PICC line experience.

Responsibilities

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

The RN PICC is responsible for providing vascular access to patients such as placing PICC lines, peripheral IV catheters and obtain lab work if needed with or without the use of ultrasound. Responsibilities include effective communication within the healthcare team, evaluate and trouble shoot vascular access devices, and provide education to other healthcare team members regarding vascular access devices and care.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides vascular access to patients such as placing PICC lines, peripheral IV catheters and obtain lab work if needed with or without the use of ultrasound.
• Evaluate and trouble shoot vascular access devices, including central lines.
• Provide education to other healthcare team members regarding vascular access devices and care
• Responsible for charting of care.
• Communicate with Team Lead regarding care provided to patients on the unit, including assessments and treatments.
• Data collection for patient safety and quality.
• Requires the daily assessment of all IV sites (central and peripheral) on inpatient units, change IV dressings and IV site as required per policy (SJWH ONLY).
