AdventHealth Apopka is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time day shift. Grow professionally while delivering holistic care in a seven-story hospital with a broad service range.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing is required.
• RN license is required; BLS certification is required.
• 1+ year of acute care hospital nursing experience preferred.
• Strong teamwork and communication abilities are essential.
• EKG competency testing may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Assess and interpret diagnostic data across patient age groups and conditions.
• Make decisions and interventions based on nursing diagnoses.
• Set measurable goals and implement individualized care plans.
• Prioritize follow-up assessments and modify plans as needed.
• Complete timely holistic assessments (physio, psych, social, spiritual).
• Support quality initiatives and mentor other staff.
• Apply knowledge to diagnoses, procedures, medications, and equipment.
• Adhere to ANA standards, ethics, and ongoing education.
• Communicate effectively and hand off thoroughly with the team.
• Use appropriate language with patients and families; promote experience.
• Adhere to infection control and medication safety practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

About the Campus

AdventHealth Apopka is a seven-story, 158-bed hospital offering an extensive range of services including expanded surgical services, advanced surgical suites and a catheterization lab

The hospital also features a 30,000-square-foot emergency department with pediatric-friendly beds, imaging services, a full-service cafeteria, chapel, gift shop and on-site fire station

The hospital opened in December 2017, replacing the 50-bed hospital that AdventHealth had operated in downtown Apopka for more than four decades

Schedule: Full-Time 36 hours a week 3/12 hr. Shifts

Shift: Days 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes.
• Makes appropriate decisions and implements interventions based on nursing diagnoses according to patients' actual or potential health conditions or needs.
• Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care.
• Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed.
• Completes timely assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, including signs of abuse or neglect.
• Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department, exhibiting a desire to learn, teach, mentor, and advance nursing skills.
• Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.
• Abides by American Nurses Association Scope, Standards, and Code of Ethics, participating in practice changes, process improvement initiatives, and completing all required education.
• Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team, completing thorough hand-off communication in all situations.
• Utilizes appropriate techniques, verbiage, and resources in all interactions with patients according to their level of understanding.
• Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors, including hourly rounding.
• Adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards, follows strict infection prevention precautions, and ensures medication safety.
