Job summary

Belmont Behavioral Health System's Philadelphia Children's Crisis Response Center is seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to join our nursing team. This program triages, intervenes, and stabilizes children and adolescents ages 3–17 experiencing behavioral and psychiatric crises, delivering care in a trauma-informed, family-centered environment.

Full-time day or night shifts, 3x12-hour schedules with rotating weekends, and a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, a 401(k), and

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license as required by the state of employment or eligibility per state requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year nursing experience; psychiatric/behavioral experience a plus
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available on hire)
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records and educate patients and families about health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care within the scope of nursing practice per state regulations and facility policies.
  • Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed accurately.
  • Continuously assess patient status and document pertinent information.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status.
  • Complete admission and discharge processing accurately.
  • Maintain therapeutic rapport with patients and families while respecting boundaries.
  • Provide direction or coordinate unit activities as directed.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, visitors, and co-workers.

Job description

The Philadelphia Children's Crisis Response Center at Belmont Behavioral Health is looking to add dedicated and compassionate Regsitered Nurses to our nursing team!

  • Must have inpatient behavioral/psychiatric nursing experience.

PCCRC is a program for the triage, intervention and stabilization of children and adolescents between the ages of 3 through 17, who are experiencing behavioral and psychiatric crisis. This continuum of care includes a crisis and transitional unit that provides brief treatment and/or stabilization in an age appropriate, family centered, trauma informed environment.

Available Shift And Schedules

Full-Time

Day OR Night shift (7:00 - 7:00)

3 x 12hr schedule with rotating weekends

Registered Nurse Essential Functions
  • Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
  • Develop and implement nursing care plans.
  • Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
  • Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
  • Ensure patients’ status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information is gathered and documented.
  • Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency, change in medical status regarding response to medications, and related challenges.
  • Ensure that initial nursing treatment plans are completed upon admission and that all nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
  • Accurately administer medications per ordered note.
  • Document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
  • Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
  • Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, giving patients direct attention, and maintaining rational detachment.
  • Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
  • Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved inpatient treatment.
Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements
  • Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements
  • One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience a plus
  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
