Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) at Lutheran Senior Services provides and coordinates nursing care to residents, ensuring physical, psychosocial, and functional needs are met. You will work within licensure scope and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized plans.

Key duties include medication administration, IV therapy where allowed, documentation in EMR, safety assessments, and supporting resident and family education. A BSN is preferred; CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Practices nursing within licensure and Nurse Practice Act; maintains active license.

• Administers medications/treatments and monitors IV fluids.
• Documents care in EMR per policy and maintains MDS as applicable.
• Assesses residents, ensures safety, and coordinates services for continuity.
• Oversees assigned staff to meet EverTrue standards of care.
• Completes rounds and documents resident progress and changes.
• Reports incidents per state/federal regulations.
• Maintains a safe, functional environment and adheres to safety protocols.
• Supports ongoing education and role modeling of best practices.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and high quality clinical care.

Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) performs nursing functions within the scope of practice and provides and/or coordinates care and services to meet the residents’ physical, psychosocial, and functional care needs.

Job Responsibilities

1. Practices nursing care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act; Keeps a current active license; Follows state and federal licensure rules and regulations for the level of care in which they practice and in accordance with EverTrue clinical and administrative policies and procedures
2. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in defining individualized plans of care for each resident; Works closely with nursing leadership to ensure regulatory compliance; Promotes individual and team learning and provides teaching and role modeling of professional nursing practices to staff for quality clinical care
3. Mixes TPNs, hangs first bag of blood for infusions, accesses, and de-accesses ports, performs IV pushes, and carries out other duties consistent with the registered nurse licensure
4. Passes medication and/or oversees the medication ordering and administration process; Administers medications and treatments to residents; monitors administration of I.V. fluids, supplemental nourishments, and medications when ordered; I.V. certified nurses may initiate I.V. therapy
5. Maintains a working knowledge and understanding of the observation/assessment and documentation process for the level of licensure in which they work, including care and service plans and the MDS as applicable
6. Utilizes the electronic medical record to capture full clinical documentation in accordance with policy and procedures
7. Observes resident status as necessary to assure quality care; Coordinates with other resident services to assure continuity of care; Documents medical information and maintains detailed, timely, and accurate reports
8. Maintains a safe, comfortable, and functional environment by assessing potential hazards; Implements practices to maintain optimum safety
9. Oversees and directs the certified staff and others as assigned to ensure the EverTrue standards of care and services are provided
10. Performs rounds according to established schedule; Documents resident progress, changes in condition, etc.
11. Reports and supports investigative protocols as it relates to staff or resident incidents and/or accidents in accordance with state and federal regulations

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• RN licensure in state of practice
• Graduate of an accredited/approved nursing school
• BSN preferred
• Must be CPR certified
• Specialized training or experience in gerontological nursing preferred

EverTrue Pay & Benefits

Pay grade: 14, $31.05/hour to $49.75/hour. Eligible for shift differentials: Yes. $3.00/hour evenings; $2.50/hour nights; $2.50/hour weekends (States of IL & MO; May vary in other states)
