Job summary

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) on a part-time day-shift schedule. Two 10-hour shifts or three 10-hour shifts with required call are available. A sign-on bonus of $7,500 is offered for qualified candidates.

The PACU unit handles post-operative care across multiple service lines with a 12-bed capacity and a 1 to 2 patient-to-nurse ratio. Orientation is 6–12 weeks for experienced RNs.

Qualifications

• Must have Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing.
• ACLS/PALS/BLS certification required or could be completed during orientation.
• 1–2 years of RN experience with critical care or PACU background.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in PACU per standards of practice.
• Collaborate with surgical teams and providers.
• Monitor and document patient status post-anesthesia.

Overview:

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a part time day shift position in Charlottesville, VA.

Schedules available:

Two 10-hour shifts and required call.

Three 10-hour shifts and required call.

Sign on bonus of $7500 available for qualified candidates.

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is responsible for observing and treating post-operative patients from a variety of service lines including radiology, Endoscopy, General surgery, Urology, Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedicsurgery. PACU is a 12-bed unit with a 1 to 2 nursing to patient ratio.

Operating hours are 7:30 AM to 9:30 PM Monday to Friday with designated overnight and weekend call staff to mitigate call shift burden. One Friday overnight call shift every 6 to 8 weeks. Per six week schedule, approximately six to eight evening call shifts Monday-Thursday. Call shifts are assigned on same day as scheduled day shifts. One 24-hour holiday call shift per year. Call requirements are subject to unit needs and may require occasional additional hours.

Experienced RN’s can expect 6 to 12 weeks of orientation on the unit.

Education

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Certification/Licensure

• BLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
