Job summary

Emerson Hospital in Massachusetts seeks a Registered Nurse in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit to perform airway assessment and management, monitor hemodynamics, and provide continuous nursing assessment after anesthesia.

You will deliver age-appropriate care, follow the Nursing Service Department's standards, and collaborate with the team to ensure patient safety. Massachusetts license, ACLS, and PALS are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum two years of medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Critical care or emergency nursing experience preferred.

Job description

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager of PACU, provides airway assessment and management, cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, pulse oximetry, and ongoing nursing assessment, diagnosis and intervention to all patients receiving any anesthetic which serve to alter the patient's level of consciousness in the immediate post-operative phase. Responsible for utilizing the nursing process to provide comprehensive care appropriate to the age of the patients served on their assigned unit, as directed by nursing management. Nursing care is provided in accordance with the stated philosophy and standards established by the Nursing Service Department, regulatory agencies and professional organizations. The Registered Nurse is accountable for the safety of nursing care they deliver or supervise.

The Registered Nurse is responsible to the patient and the family or significant others for the quality of direct and indirect nursing care delivered.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.
• A minimum two years of medical/surgical experience required.
• Critical care or emergency experience preferred.

Licensure and/or Certification

• Current license as a professional nurse in Massachusetts required.
• ACLS required.
• PALS required.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
