Job summary

Mount Carmel New Albany is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical Ortho unit in New Albany, OH. You will provide holistic patient care across a 60-bed unit with a focus on post-surgical and telemetry patients, under the Ohio Nurse Practice Act guidelines.

Orientation is tailored to your level of experience. You will demonstrate clinical proficiency, participate in education of patients and families, and collaborate with a team to deliver high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Ohio RN license.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Ability to plan, organize and manage patient care and supervise care team.
• Basic computer skills; EMR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate care for an assigned patient group using evidence-based practice; assist with assessments, exams and treatments; perform basic procedures.
• Administer medications under provider guidance following policies and procedures.
• Assist in emergency situations under provider direction.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, diagnoses and care in plain terms.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes accurately in the medical record.
• Maintain accountability for care provided and for care documented by others as appropriate.

About the Unit:

The Medical Surgical Ortho unit at Mount Carmel New Albany has 60 beds. The Registered Nurse could expect to see a variety of patients recovering from total joint replacements and fractures, spinal surgeries, cosmetic surgery, as well as general medical/surgical telemetry patients. Med/Surg Ortho is known for being team oriented and delivering excellent quality care as well as an outstanding patient experience. Orientation is individualized to meet the needs of the new hire and their level of nursing experience.

About the job:

The Registered Nurse (RN), within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, will provide care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The Staff RN is accountable for the delivery of patient care utilizing the Nursing Process within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of Mount Carmel Health System.

What you will do:

• Assess and evaluate patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence-based practice; Assists provider with patient assessment, examinations and treatments; Perform basic medical procedures under the supervision of a provider, including set up of procedures.
• Administer medications under the direction of the provider, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures, and/or guidelines.
• Assist in emergency situations under the direction of the provider
• Thoroughly educate and explain procedures to patients and family members (diagnosis, disease process etc.).
• Document accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed care givers as appropriate.

What we are looking for:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
• Current BLS/CPR
• Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage patient care, including delegation to and supervision of other members of the patient care team
• Basic computer skills required; prior experience using an EMR for charting preferred
