Job summary

Avera St Benedict Nursing Home in Parkston, SD is seeking a Registered Nurse for day/evening/weekend/holiday shifts. You will provide professional nursing care, perform assessments, and participate in care planning with a multidisciplinary team.

The role offers a sign-on bonus up to $10,000, shift differentials, and a pathway to student loan repayment. Active RN license required; 6:00am–6:30pm or 6:00pm–6:30am shifts with 72 hours per two weeks.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of practice.
  • 1–3 years experience in clinical or long-term care is preferred.
  • Must be able to work the hours specified and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provides resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the health care team.
  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories and documenting residents’ physical and psychological status.
  • Teaches healthcare requirements by educating residents and families about condition, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Evaluates resident care by adhering to therapeutic standards and reviewing records.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy resident care environment following infection-control and storage procedures.
  • Keeps resident care equipment operating by following instructions and performing preventive maintenance.
  • Keeps supplies ready by stocking and expediting orders as needed.
  • Coordinates admissions, discharges, and transfers to and from the facility.
  • Directs, plans, and coordinates workflow of nursing assistants and other staff.
  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership.

$24.50 - $48.50

Position Highlights

RN May be eligible for $10,000.00 sign on bonus!

6:00am-6:30pm and 6:00pm-6:30am; 72hrs/2wks

$3 SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL is available for hours worked between 7p and 7a, $2 on weekends, and $5 on weekend nights!

Student Loan Repayment: Position may be eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps you pay off your loans and save money. Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.

A Brief Overview

Delivers nursing care by developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends to understand residents conditions, medications, and self-care skills; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives.

What you will do
  • Provides resident care by reviewing physician prescriptions; communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health care team; coordinating with other healthcare providers; providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, families, and friends; conferring with physicians.

  • Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories; examining residents; documenting residents physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors; conferring with family and friends; developing a nursing diagnosis; establishing nursing care objectives; defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables.

  • Teaches healthcare requirements by establishing resident care goals; instructing resident, family, and friends to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions; providing information and resources.

  • Evaluates resident's care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against resident care standards; reviewing resident's records; noting changing conditions and needs; re-evaluating care objectives; modifying nursing care plan.

  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy resident care environment by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations; adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns.

  • Keeps resident care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

  • Keeps resident care supplies ready by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt; stocking items.

  • Coordinates admissions, discharges and transfers to and from the facility.

  • Directs, plans and coordinates workflow of nursing assistants and other nursing personal.

  • Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership.
