Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist invites RNs with post graduate training to join the Operating Room OR Training Academy. This program blends classroom instruction with hands-on clinical rotation as you prepare for surgical nursing roles.

Participants attend Stage I orientation and Stage II clinical rotations under expert preceptors, with mentorship, ongoing assessment, and opportunities to advance into OR scrub and circulator duties.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of experience in the Operating Room.
• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Registered Nurse licensure from the State of North Carolina Board of Nursing.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.

Responsibilities

• Diligently readies for classroom and clinical commitments before arranging meetings.
• Consistently fulfills examination requirements on designated days.
• Keeps meticulous clinical case records.
• Upholds a constructive and enthusiastic demeanor during clinical rotations.
• Delivers age-appropriate care in strict accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Guidelines for the respective patient age groups when participating in patient care.

As part of this program, you'll engage in comprehensive classroom and clinical training to master the intricacies of the operating room. This is an RN Post Graduate Training Program. The RN assumes the role of student in training for the Operating Room through classroom and clinical training.

About The OR Academy

• Stage I: Commences with a comprehensive week of General Nursing Orientation followed by five weeks of immersive classes, featuring a blend of lectures, engaging discussions, skill training, return demonstrations, observational learning, and simulation exercises.
• Stage II: Dive into clinical rotations, with an emphasis on the care of surgical patients, covering both the vital circulator and scrub roles. Gain invaluable hands‑on experience by working closely with dedicated preceptors in the OR, allowing you to develop the essential skills and knowledge required to provide safe and effective patient care.
