Job summary

AdventHealth Altamonte Springs is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the operating room. The role supports comprehensive patient assessments, develops care plans, administers medications, and educates patients and families on health conditions and treatments.

The position requires Florida RN licensure, BLS, ACLS certifications, and at least six months of OR experience. Relocation and sign-on may be offered where applicable.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Nursing is required.
• Minimum of six months of Operating Room experience as an RN.
• Current State of Florida or Multistate RN licensure, BLS and ACLS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments covering physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and per physician orders and hospital protocols.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies.
• Collaborate with medical staff to coordinate patient care and ensure effective communication.

Job Description

Clinical Ladder participation is voluntary. Salary adjustments are determined by program eligibility, advancement level, and organizational guidelines. Up to $12,500 Sign-on Bonus and $3,000 Relocation Assistance available to eligible candidates (see terms below)

Terms

12-month Full-time Employment Contract. Required for Sign-On and Relocation. Sign-on Eligibility: One (1) year of applicable experience. Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible. Relocation Eligibility: Must live 50 miles outside of campus address. Rehires that are less than 12 months from separation date are not eligible.

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
• Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record.
• * Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and interventions continuously, making necessary adjustments to improve patient health and achieve positive outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
• Provide emotional support and therapeutic communication to patients and their families, addressing their emotional and psychological needs.
• Supervise and delegate care provided by members of the healthcare team to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Engage in continuous professional development and participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient care and operational efficiency.
• Respond to code situations promptly and effectively, providing necessary interventions to stabilize patients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patient, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes

Education

Associate of Science degree in Nursing

Work Experience

Minimum of six (6) months of Operating Room experience as a Registered Nurse

License and Certifications

Current State of Florida or Multistate licensure as a Registered Nurse

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
