The University of Virginia’s UVA Health Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center is seeking an Oncology Infusion RN to deliver high-quality care to an outpatient oncology and hematology population. You will work with advanced therapies, complex infusions, and evolving cancer care standards in a major academic medical center.

At UVA Health’s Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center, you will care for a highly specialized outpatient oncology and hematology population while developing expertise across advanced therapies, complex infusions, and evolving standards of cancer care . This opportunity combines the clinical depth of a major academic medical center with the continuity of caring for patients throughout their treatment journey.

The Role

As an Oncology Infusion RN in the Oncology Infusion Center, you will provide comprehensive nursing care in a high-volume environment where patient acuity, treatment complexity, and operational priorities can change throughout the day. You will build meaningful relationships with patients who return for ongoing therapy while collaborating closely with oncology physicians, advanced practice providers, pharmacists, research teams, and experienced nursing colleagues.

Your practice may include patients receiving treatment for solid tumors and malignant hematologic conditions, as well as stem cell transplant, CAR-T, BiTE, and clinical research patients. An average day may include:

• Completing focused assessments and reviewing laboratory results, treatment plans, and clinical parameters before initiating therapy.

• Administering chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics, blood products, supportive therapies, and other complex treatments .

• Managing ports, central lines, peripheral IVs, infusion pumps, and other treatment-related equipment.

• Monitoring for treatment reactions and complications, recognizing subtle clinical changes, and escalating concerns appropriately.

• Educating patients and families about treatment, side effects, symptom management, and when to seek additional care.

• Coordinating with multidisciplinary partners to support safe, efficient, and individualized treatment.

• Prioritizing and reprioritizing care in response to acuity, treatment delays, add-on patients, and changing clinical needs.

• Depending on your experience and demonstrated competencies, you may progress into responsibilities involving charge, triage, acuity-based assignments, or complex therapy management .

Scheduled shifts may include a mix of 10- and 12-hour shifts based on role, experience, and staffing needs, with regular weekend and holiday rotation. The position does not follow a traditional inpatient overnight schedule.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education : Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $54.15 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
