Job summary

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 12-bed Observation Unit at High Point Medical Center. The role requires completion of an accredited nursing program and an active RN license in the appropriate state.

Work is full-time, 36 hours per week, with 3 twelve-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:30 AM) and weekend rotation. This unit feeds into a broader ED/clinical decision pathway, offering cross-training and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program.
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers certification (American Heart Association).
  • 1+ year of RN experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care.
  • Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience across the continuum.

Where You Will Work

The Observation Unit is a 12-bed general medical-surgical unit that handles acute patients with expected stays less than 36 hours. Upon completion of 6 months in the Observation Unit, you will be crossed‑trained for the Clinical Decision Unit, which is a 12‑bed extension of the Emergency Department. The Clinical Decision Unit handles patients that are requiring extended Emergency Department stays; however, they are expected to be discharged within 24 hours. The Clinical Decision Unit is a protocol driven unit.

We’re Looking For
  • Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Greater than 1 year of RN experience (RNs with less than 1 year of RN experience: Please apply to postings that have "New Graduate RN" in the title.)

  • As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
