Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for our Observation Unit at High Point Medical Center. The 12-bed unit handles acute patients with stays under 36 hours, with cross-training to a 12-bed Clinical Decision Unit for extended ED stays, typically discharged within 24 hours.

You will provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care, guided by nursing standards and policies, and lead efforts to ensure patient safety and a positive experience across the care continuum.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state where practice is required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• More than 1 year of RN experience.

Where You Will Work:

The Observation Unit is a 12-bed general medical-surgical unit that handles acute patients with expected stays less than 36 hours. Upon completion of 6 months in the Observation Unit, you will be crossed‑trained for the Clinical Decision Unit, which is a 12‑bed extension of the Emergency Department. The Clinical Decision Unit handles patients that are requiring extended Emergency Department stays; however, they are expected to be discharged within 24 hours. The Clinical Decision Unit is a protocol driven unit.

We’re Looking For:

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Greater than 1 year of RN experience
  

What You’ll Do:

• As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.
• Using evidence‑based practice, clinical decision making, compassion, and skills communication while leading efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
