Job summary

Atrium Health is seeking an RN for the Observation Unit, a 12-bed general medical-surgical unit handling acute patients with stays under 36 hours. After 6 months in the Observation Unit, the RN will be cross-trained for the Clinical Decision Unit, a 12-bed extension of the Emergency Department, with patients expected to discharge within 24 hours.

The unit is protocol-driven and requires licensure and BLS certification, with experience preferred.

Where You Will Work

The Observation Unit is a 12-bed general medical-surgical unit that handles acute patients with expected stays less than 36 hours. Upon completion of 6 months in the Observation Unit, you will be crossed-trained for the Clinical Decision Unit, which is a 12-bed extension of the Emergency Department. The Clinical Decision Unit handles patients that are requiring extended Emergency Department stays; however, they are expected to be discharged within 24 hours. The Clinical Decision Unit is a protocol driven unit.

• Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Greater than 1 year of RN experience (RNs with less than 1 year of RN experience: Please apply to postings that have "New Graduate RN" in the title.)
