Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates safety and continuity of care using documentation, handoff tools/processes, etc.
• Creates a plan of care using the nursing process: assessment, diagnoses, intervention, and evaluation of outcomes.
• Recognizes patient safety concerns through appropriate resources.
• Provides education based on unique learning needs of the patient.

• Performs an adequate patient assessment and documentation.
• Demonstrates the teach‑back method to evaluate effectiveness of education.

Physical Requirements

• Minimize manual patient lifting; safe handling to 35 lb whenever possible.
• Heavy/Hard work: lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, carrying materials and equipment weighing 40 lb+.
• Visual acuity within normal range.
• Hearing within normal range (required for assessing breath sounds, bowel sounds, monitor interpretation, etc.).

Working Environment

• Protracted or irregular hours.
• Work with biohazards, infectious diseases, deceased patients, water, electrical hazards associated with patient care equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
