Trinity Health Grand Rapids' Hauenstein 3 (H3) Neuroscience Medical Surgical Unit is a Magnet-designated 34-bed unit caring for a wide range of patients from low-acuity to non-intubated critical care. The unit specializes in neuroscience nursing, stroke care, and epilepsy monitoring, with ongoing education and orientation for neuro nursing excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school and program.
• Associate degree in nursing is required; a BSN is preferred.
• If ADN, must enroll in BSN within 6 months of hire and complete in 4 years.
• Licensed in the State of Michigan.
• Experience as an RN is required.

Trinity Health Grand Rapids' Hauenstein 3 (H3) is an innovative 34-bed mixed acuity Neuroscience Medical Surgical Unit able to care for low acuity up to non-intubated critical care patients. On H3, we pride ourselves on the neuroscience nursing specialty, focusing on the unique expertise needed to care for this specialized patient population. The nurses on this unit care for a wide range of patients who have undergone complex neurological surgeries and procedures as well as trauma. We are also a designated Comprehensive Stroke Center and therefore care for newly diagnosed stroke patients in need of emergent thrombolytic and neuro interventional treatment. Additionally, H3 contains an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit which provides these patients all types of medical and surgical care options. On H3, specialized training and education is provided during a comprehensive orientation and available thereafter continually for neuro nursing expertise.
